The Flight Plan (beta)
Brand discovery and strategy for creatives who refuse to be caged.
You’re talented. You work hard.
So why does “personal branding” feel so… gross?
Because you’re not a product to be packaged.
You’re a rare bird trying to fit into a pigeonhole.
Here's the truth they don't tell you:
Truth #1
The creative world is full of incredibly talented people who are broke, burnt out, or gave up entirely.
Not because they weren’t good enough.
Not because they didn’t work hard enough.
But because nobody taught them how to claim credit for their genius before someone else got recognition for it.
Truth #2
Talent alone isn't enough.
You need to know how to talk about your work like it matters (because it does).
You need to understand what makes you irreplaceable (not just “good”).
You need words that feel true when they come out of your mouth.
This workbook is about everything else you need to turn your talent into a career that actually sustains you.
What is The Flight Plan?
It’s a 69-exercise brand discovery system that helps you:
01
Discover your rare factor
What makes you uniquely valuable (not just “different”)
02
Find your people
Who desperately needs your specific work (beyond demographics)
03
Claim your voice
How to talk about yourself without sounding fake or sales-y
04
Create visual coherence
A look that actually matches your personality
05
Build strategic clarity
Where to show up and what to say when you get there
But here’s what it’s really doing:
- It’s helping you refuse to let your talent go unrecognized.
- It’s giving you permission to take up space.
- It’s teaching you to claim your genius without apologizing for it.
This isn't your typical approach to branding
Most branding advice treats you like a product to be packaged.
This system treats you like a rare bird learning to fly.
Most branding advice assumes you have endless energy.
This one has three energy levels so you can work when you're in the shell, exploring, or ready to soar.
Most branding advice is one-size-fits-all.
This one meets you right where you're stuck, whether that's identity, messaging, visuals, or implementation.
What’s inside The Flight Plan:
8 Major Sections:
TAKEOFF: Where are you now? (Honest assessment, no judgment)
NAVIGATION: Who are you really? (Your core identity and values)
YOUR RARE FACTOR: What makes you magnificent? (Your impossible combination)
ALTITUDE: What do you offer? (Your value and who needs it)
FLIGHT PATH: How do you talk about it? (Your authentic voice)
PLUMAGE: How do you look? (Visual identity that feels like you)
FORMATION: How does it all connect? (Brand architecture and synthesis)
LANDING: What’s next? (Actually implementing in the real world)
69 Exercises organized by energy level:
🥚 Still in the Shell: For when creative work feels impossible (gentle, no pressure)
🐣 Baby Bird: For when you’re ready to explore (curious, brave)
🛁 Bird Bath: For when you’re ready to dive deep (strategic, bold)
You move between levels as your energy changes. There’s no “right” way to use this.
Plus:
Start Here Guide: So you don’t get overwhelmed by 360 pages
Quick-hit paths: “If you’re stuck on X, do these 5 exercises”
Brand Brief building: Compile your insights as you go
Implementation plans: 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day roadmaps
This workbook is for you if:
✅ You’re a creative entrepreneur who knows you need to “brand yourself” but it feels overwhelming or fake
✅ You have talent but struggle to talk about your work in a way that feels authentic
✅ You’re tired of sounding like everyone else in your field
✅ You know you’re different but can’t articulate what makes you valuable
✅ You’ve consumed a million pieces of branding advice but still feel scattered
✅ You’re ready to claim your space but need language and strategy to do it
✅ You refuse to choose between authenticity and success
This workbook is NOT for you if:
❌ You want someone to just tell you what to do (this requires YOUR work)
❌ You’re looking for quick hacks or formulas (this is deep discovery work)
❌ You don’t have time to actually do the exercises (271 pages aren’t just for reading)
❌ You’re perfectly happy blending in (more power to you, pigeon)
❌ You want traditional “professional” branding advice (this is different)

Who created The Flight Plan (and why should you trust me)?
I’m Rachel, and I’ve spent 20 years watching talented people disappear because they didn’t know how to talk about themselves.
I’m a copywriter and marketing strategist who’s worked in agencies of all sizes, in-house marketing departments, arts nonprofits, and higher education. I’m also a screenwriter and filmmaker obsessed with storytelling—which means I know that the best stories are the TRUE ones.
Here’s what makes me want to hurl:
“Personal branding” has become such a buzzword that exciting artists are acting like everyone else because they don’t know how to dig deep and uncover the thing that makes them amazing.
And the world is ABSOLUTELY waiting for that exact magic.
I created The Flight Plan because I was tired of watching creatives:
- Shrink themselves to fit someone else’s formula
- Sound like everyone else because they thought that’s what “professional” meant
- Hide their weirdest, most valuable qualities because they seemed “unprofessional”
- Give up on their dreams because they couldn’t figure out how to talk about themselves without feeling gross
This workbook is different because I’m different.
I don’t do corporate speak. I don’t believe in formulas. I don’t think you need to sand down your edges to be successful.
I believe your rare bird status is your strategy. Your “weird” background is your competitive advantage. Your authentic voice is more magnetic than any polished persona.
And I’m here to help you claim it.
FAQs:
How is this different from other branding systems?
Most branding advice assumes you have one energy level, one learning style, and need to complete everything in order. This workbook meets you where you are, literally. The Still in the Shell/Baby Bird/Bird Bath system means you can work when you’re exhausted or when you’re energized. The “Start Here” guide means you only do the exercises you actually need.
Do I have to do all 69 exercises?
Absolutely not. Most people will do 15-25 exercises total. The Start Here guide tells you which 5 exercises to start with based on where you’re stuck. Some exercises will be life-changing. Others won’t apply to you at all. That’s completely fine.
What if I don’t have “business” experience?
Perfect. This workbook is specifically designed for creative entrepreneurs, freelancers, and solo practitioners who are building on their own terms. You don’t need an MBA or a business plan. You just need honesty about who you are and willingness to claim your space.
How long does it take to complete?
Depends on how much you do. The recommended 5 exercises for your stuck point might take 2-3 hours. A full section might take a week. The whole workbook could take 1-3 months. But here’s the thing: you don’t have to finish it all to get value. Most people get their biggest breakthroughs in the first 10 exercises.
Is this Google Doc format forever?
For beta, yes. After beta feedback, the final version will likely be a beautiful PDF, interactive course content, or both. Beta testers will get free access to the upgraded version.
What if I get stuck?
The workbook includes guidance for common stuck points. But if you need more support, you can book a Perch session (45-minute strategy call) or eventually apply for a Wingspan VIP Day. Beta testers get priority access to both.
Can I share this with someone?
Please don’t. This is for your personal use only. If someone else needs it, send them here. (And thank you for respecting the work that went into creating this.)
What’s your refund policy?
Due to the digital nature of this product, there are no refunds.
One last thing before you decide:
You came here because something isn’t working.
Maybe you’re talented but invisible.
Maybe you’re working hard but not getting traction.
Maybe you know you need to “brand yourself” but every time you try, it feels fake.
Here’s what I know:
You’re not broken. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re not “bad at marketing.”
You’re a rare bird trying to fit into a pigeonhole.
And rare birds need different instructions.
This workbook won’t teach you to fit in better.
It’ll teach you to stand out: authentically, strategically, unapologetically.
It won’t give you a formula to copy.
It’ll help you discover what makes you irreplaceable.
It won’t make you sound like everyone else.
It’ll help you find words that feel true when they come out of your mouth.
The question isn’t whether you need this.
The question is: Are you ready to stop blending in?
